Geekspace Gwinnett has been helping in the effort of getting protective face shields to healthcare workers. We have made over well over 2000 shields to date! We have already made shipments for local doctors offices, urgent care facilities, and are shipping to Gwinnett Medical Center now. We have also partnered with Atlanta Beats Covid to increase our reach, and have been regularly supplying them with laser cut shilds. Now we need the comunity's help to continue the effort! $4000 has already been put forward for materials in this effort, members have been donating all their time and money to make this happen. With a donation of plastic sheeting from The Coca Cola Co. we will be able to make around 5000 of the face shield clear visors, but we are still working to get filament and other materials to complete the shields. We will likely use up all the sheeting in a few weeks or sooner and will need to get more as well. We will continue this effort for as long as is needed and funds/materials allow. Special thanks to GSU for loaning out some printers to the cause, Etch of the Imagination, for laser cutting of the face shields, and to the many members making this happen.
With more funding we can increase production and purchase materials to make many more shields and supply more locations. As this thing (Covid-19) has no real known expiration date, there is a greater need for supplies then we could ever hope to fulfill. However, we can make a difference! All funds will continue to go to this effort until it is resolved.
Please help to support this effort.
