Please help sponsor a scholarship including full access to Maker Nexus along with unlimited classes for one full year! The scholarship will be awarded to a teenage girl, underprivileged teen or minority teen from the San Francisco Bay Area.
We have over 2,500 teens on our list that we would like to help and, every $1,200 raised, takes one teen off of the needy list and puts them onto the list of children who have the STEAM skills needed to change the course of their lives.
According to the 2018 study "Who Becomes an Inventor in America? The Importance of Exposure to Innovation" young girls, minorities and underpriviliged teens are 1/10th as likely to make a significant invention in their lives compared to the top 1%'s children. The key factor is exposure to innovation during childhood. The kind of exposure that a Maker Nexus student membership is designed to provide.
Your donation to Maker Nexus for a one-year scholarship will offer a teen access to our state-of-the-art 7,000 sq. ft. maker space where he or she can create just about anything they can imagine. Access to our maker space provides the kind of exposure to STEAM skills that the study's authors say will put your sponsored teen on an equal footing with their wealthier cohorts. They will have the access to our 3D design software, laser cutters, 3D printers, full textile shop, electronics workbenches and full wood shop, along with the basic safety and skills training needed to use any of them safely. By working and creating at Maker Nexus, student scholarship recipients will be able to work alongside other teen and adult makers from throughout the Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay Area. This includes top engineers from companies like Apple, Google, Intel and educators from tech museums and schools throughout the region.
For the price of our regular one-year student membership, your donation will go further becuase the scholarship recipient will be able to take any of our skills & safety or project courses at no additional cost. Each of these courses would normally cost $60 to $125 in addition to a regular student membership. So you can be sure that your donation goes the extra mile.
With our long list of students eager to have access to Maker Nexus you can sponsor part or all of one scholarship or even multiple scholarships.
Please help us help kids get the kind of skills needed to fulfill the types of jobs that are growing at over 17% per year and paying 26% higher salaries on average that non-STEAM based careers. Sponsor a scholarship membership to Maker Nexus today.
