Capital Community Athletics (CCA) unites neighbors from around the world and across the street through sports. Despite COVID wreaking havoc all over the globe, our neighborhood has continued to grow in our sports and love for one another. CCA is a community of neighbors and friends from Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and beyond who have all settled in Sacramento. Every day there is something going on: run/fitness groups, cricket, soccer teams of all ages, cycling outings and more! This non-profit is committed to sporting and recreational activities which sharpen athletic skills, improve sportsmanship, offer practice and league play, tournaments, and day group outings that create community connection and learning opportunities. Volunteers and participants alike experience joy as a result of community engagement and close friendships. Together we share food, fun, our stories, and life.
Please join us in making a way for the kids to play in 2021! A huge part of our 2021 plans is our soccer program. We at CCA provide coaches and soccer scholarships for over 100 children in Sacramento. All other soccer teams in the area cost hundreds to thousands of dollars each year, but as a result of community generosity, the refugee and immigrant children are able to participate in sporting programs that would otherwise remain inaccessible to them. CCA solves the problem of high cost organized sports by providing them a way to play. After a recent practice in the park, one of the Afghan boys said, “Coach, this is the best part of my week. This is all we’ve got right now.” Will you join CCA to make a way for more kids to play in 2021? Your gift of $10, $15, $20 or more will support the year-round soccer program we have for the refugee boys and girls. If we reach our year-end goal of $14,000, more children will be able to participate in 2021 and it will provide for continued scholarships for the children already involved in the program.
