This museum in S. Portland Maine, which has tens of thousands of artifacts, all collected and catalogued and displayed by Lee Humiston. It tells the story of America's military contribution to our history, and particularly Maine's part in it. In addition there is a large section dedicated to POWs, especially the POWs from the Vietnam War. Lee has lovingly husbanded this museum from a small collection to a world class military museum. Lee, with a few helpers and grass roots donors has built this museum into a showplace. It requires funds to operate, and just a few days ago, Lee suffered a major heart attack and is unable (for a while, we hope) to raise donations, or be the curator, guide and docent of this magnificent and valuable creation. The museum needs help, like many things in Maine, to make it through the winter, now that Lee is laid up. Check out website at Mainemilitarymuseum.org. It's fabulous and needs help.
