At The Samaritans of New York we provide suicide prevention and crisis support services via the city's only 24/7 confidential suicide hotline, as well as our survivors of suicide loss support groups; mental health wellness check-in services; and public education programs. The support of Samaritans reaches far and wide, to the most vulnerable individuals, and is often the only source of support some people have.

This year, we are hosting a virtual campaign called Samari-thon 2020 and raising funds via personal wellness goals. My personal wellness goal is broadly: staying balanced. When I feel balanced -- emotionally, physically, and mentally -- I am better able to serve others. Staying balanced takes on different forms for me. It looks like taking care of my emotional health by being kinder to myself in moments of stress or reaching out to a friend for emotional support; taking care of my physical health and going for a run or practicing yoga; and taking care of my inner child and engaging with a creative hobby like painting, gardening, or film photography. I hope you will feel inspired to reflect on your personal wellness goals so that you can feel more balanced and better able to take care of yourself and others :)
