For over 45 years, the MECF has brought gifts of warm coats, toys, groceries for holiday meals, and community kindness to the most vulnerable among us in our town of Madison: senior citizens living on fixed incomes and families who are struggling to get by. Our annual outreach during the holidays has made them feel cared for by their neighbors.
After watching this summer as the number of students requesting assistance through the public school's Free & Reduced Lunch (FRL) program grew from about 60 to 200, the MECF has committed in 2020 to helping more of our vulnerable neighbors than ever before. We will offer gifts to every family on the FRL program and, as we've always done, offer gifts to every senior living in Madison Housing Authority residences. Due to COVID, the fund will not be collecting toys, so we will need monetary donations for toy, grocery and other gift cards. The MECF will make sure 100% of your donation goes to your neighbors, we'll pass on your good wishes, and we'll take all the thanks and blessings we normally receive on your behalf. We hope you'll help to make our greatly expanded outreach a success.
