Mackinaw Miles For Mercy
Mackinaw Miles for Mercy is a campaign I started to help individuals and families impacted by cancer. To raise awareness for this great cause, I will swim the Straits of Mackinac this August. The Straits of Mackinac is the portion of Lakes Michigan and Huron that lies between the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan. This 5.1 mile solo swim is a personal goal I have wanted to accomplish for some time now. The opportunity to combine my personal goal with this public campaign provides an ideal platform to make a substantial impact, but I need your help!
Thursday, 9 August 2018 marks the 15 year anniversary of my honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps. As I closed that chapter of my life and entered the civilian sector, I vowed to continue to make the world a better place and to keep myself in peak physical condition. In that vein, I undertake the great challenge of this swim with the hope of motivating others to donate to our family and friends helplessly impacted by this terrible disease.
Please join me in an effort to spread the word and motivate people to live generously and make a big splash in someone’s life. The American Cancer Society directly handles all donations collected through this website and will provide you with a receipt for tax purposes.
I will swim from the Upper Peninsula to the Lower Peninsula of Michigan at approximately 6 am on Thursday, 9 August provided weather conditions permit and I remain injury free during my training for this epic event. These dates and times may shift in order to accommodate conditions. Remember that your donations will be used to help cancer victims in need regardless of the success of my swim.
Thank you all for your support, and God bless.
