We are so excited to be able to apart of the Macey’s Believers first annual walk to help fundraise for the Children with Diabetes Friends for Life conference scholarships as well as Diabetes research.
Our daughter; Bella was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on December 26th, 2014 at 23 months old. Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the beta cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. The body requires the hormone insulin to convert glucose into energy. We knew very little about Type 1 Diabetes and did not have any prior family history. Each day in the life of diabetes is a challenge from carb counting each meal, snack and drink, site changes, finger pokes and the constant battle of high and low Glucose levels. Since Bella’s diagnosis we continue to educate ourselves and others about this disease. Bella is now five years old and has been such a warrior through all of this. Despite her challenges she continues to be brave in the fight and enjoys ballet, art, singing and dancing. Bella is a constant reminder for us to always find the JOY in the journey.
We have heard such amazing things about the Friends for Life conference and are excited to be a part of this fundraiser which helps diabetic families be able to learn more about Type 1 while engaging with other diabetic families who know the same struggles and challenges of this disease. Please help support us and Macey’s Believers in raising money to allow families to not have the financial burden of attending this conference. Any contribution is appreciated. Thank you so much. Please feel free to share this with Friends and Family.
