Lynn was in the ICU after she was diagnosed with WKS--these are the photos from that period. She had completely lost her energy and was in a catatonic state. But she continues to make gradual improvements today. The photo taken with her sister, Terri, has her smiling (center bottom) and the video to the right is of her practicing how to walk with her caregiver--she couldn't walk at all in the beginning and she is making tremendous progress.
WE WANT TO PROVIDE HOUSING AND REHABILITATION FOR YOUNG AND MIDDLE-AGED ADULTS Currently, most young and middle-aged adults with brain injuries are placed in senior care homes with the elderly who are living out the last part of their lives. This is not the right kind of atmosphere for WKS victims who need much more stimulation and encouragement. When the patients are not given what they need, they tend to lose their motivation to improve their condition and live life to the fullest.
