Lost Valley Education and Event Center, along with Meadowsong Ecovillage, an on-site community of 40 residents, staff, and volunteers, is in a very unique situation in relationship to COVID-19. This message is a call-out for support.
We have cancelled all on-site events & education programming through May 1st. This includes multiple week-long retreats, our April 4th monthly Ecstatic Dance, educational workshops and other programming that was under development. We have also created a freeze on all AirBnB guests and the visitor program.
We will reassess events and education programming at the beginning of April to determine future courses of action for our up-coming spring and summer programming.
We have created on-site protocols for sanitizing, personal hygiene, and social distancing for our 40 residents to cohabitate together while minimizing risk of exposure to illness. This is a unique challenge being that our community uses shared resources for food, restrooms, showers, common spaces, etc. We are working diligently to update protocols as we watch the progression of the pandemic.
We typically host anywhere from 1,500 to 3,000 guests per year through education, events and visitors. Finances at LV are primarily funded through these avenues, along with residents' housing rental. Most residents earn their income through the job opportunities on-site, which are primarily funded through education and events income. The economic impact of the event shutdown has been swift and severe. In compassion for the challenging situation for all, we have put a pause on late fees and evictions due to inability to pay rent.
We have come together as a community to envision creative solutions to this financial challenge. We are actively envisioning the creation of online programming for permaculture education, community resilience, health-related practices and more. We will update as this vision continues to progress.
Do you support the vision of Permaculture education, heart-opening retreats, ecstatic dances, native plant nurseries, community resilience, off-grid technologies, ecological restoration and Agroforestry projects? If so... we will need your support in these times.
