In faithful response to the COVID-19 crisis, St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Luther's Table, and Lakeridge Lutheran Church have partnered with local social agencies to provide meals, shelter space and support for two emergency shelters in Renton, WA.
The Center of Hope, a shelter for families with children experiencing homelessness, is relocating for the next 4-8 weeks (April-May) to St. Matthew's to combine the night and day shelter services at one location. The move to St. Matthew's will allow the families to have adequate social distancing space while the Stay Home, Stay Healthy order remains for the state of Washington.
The ARISE emergency shelter for men will remain for a second month at Lakeridge Lutheran church and leaders from St. Matthew's will partner to provide oversight, meals and support. (UPDATE 4/8/20: The Arise Shelter has moved to a motel in SeaTac area, meals will now be covered by a different non-profit.)
Luther's Table will provide 6 meals a week for both the Center of Hope and the Arise Shelter. Luther's Table will also be making 10-15 extra meals a day for veterans living in Compass Housing above Luther's Table, in cooperation with the Roots of the Table community. Luther's Table will be making 480 grab-and-go dinners a week!
If you would like to support the compassionate service of Luther's Table, St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Lakeridge Lutheran, and Roots of the Table as they support the vital work of Center of Hope, ARISE and Compass Housing in Renton, please contribute to this joint effort.
