According to the CDC, approximately 1 in 54 children has been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). ASD occurs in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups and is more than 4 times more common among boys than girls.
An autism diagnosis affects every member of the family and often puts stress on a marriage, siblings, work, finances, and personal relationships. Having a resource to turn to for help and understanding is invaluable.
Your donation will directly fund The Lurie Center for Autism's Family Support Team. This team helps families cope and navigate the long and difficult road of medical, therapeutic, and life decisions related to caring for an individual with autism.
In its 11th year, The Lurie Center for Autism is an integrated and multidisciplinary clinical, research, training, and advocacy program dedicated to treating individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disorders. Its mission is to treat individuals and support their families across the lifespan.
Twice as Nice! Every donation raised through the 2020 "Run at Home" event will be doubled thanks to a generous challenge grant put forward by the Nancy Lurie Marks Family Foundation.
