Lupus Research is a topic that hits close to home for me. My besta (grandma) was diagnosed with Lupus before I was born, and even though I grew up not knowing she was ill, it has impacted my life greatly.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease that basically makes your body's cells work against you. There is currently no cure for it.
Besta passed away at 71 years old in 2016 from secondary complications of lupus. In a different life without lupus, maybe we could've had another 20 years...
I miss her every day.
Hopefully one day, every person with lupus can have a long, painless life.
The Alliance for Lupus Research (ALR) is an American voluntary health organization based in New York City whose mission is to find better treatments and ultimately prevent and cure systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE or lupus), a debilitating autoimmune disease, through supporting multidisciplinary medical research.
