My name is Luke. I was born with a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) known as Tetralogy of Fallot. When I was a week old, I had my first heart surgery. A few hours after my surgery, I coded as my parents watched. This was just the first time me parents would watch my fight for my life. At nine months old, I had another heart surgery. While surgery when well and I thrived, at 5 years old my heart and lung complications almost took my life unexpectedly.
In my short life, I've had countless EKGs, cardiac echoes, stress tests, holter monitors, cardiac caths, and extended hospital visits for a common cold. I walk to honor the 1 in 100 babies born each year with a CHD. There is so much unknown with CHD. Thanks for the efforts of PCHA, we are Conquering CHD!
