Summits for Scholars is an initiative that’s raising funds to build an educational learning & life center in an impoverished area of Newala, Tanzania through a charity climb up the world’s tallest free-standing mountain in the world – the majestic, Mount Kilimanjaro, also located in Tanzania.
About the Climb:
You’re invited to be one of just 30 individuals who will comprise our team of climbers for the mountain climbing experience of a lifetime! Join us as we embark upon an epic journey to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro – 19,340 ft over Tanzania’s rift valley and the highest freestanding peak in the world.
This will be a 7-day hike beginning November 1, 2018 when the weather is mild, foot-traffic on the mountain is low and your chances of reaching the summit are sky-high.
We’ve teamed up with the #1 mountain guide service for Mt. Killimanjaro, Ultimate Kilimanjaro, ensuring the safest, most comfortable, most enjoyable, scenically beautiful and successful trip possible.
Every climber must cover their ticket, travel and gear fees as well as commit to raising $2,500, which will go directly towards the goal of raising $100,000 to fund the building of an educational center in an impoverished community in Tanzania.
Mountaineers, hikers, outdoorsmen, nature lovers and adventurists will finally be able to knock this challenge off your bucket-list and support the bright future of promising students.
About the Charity:
This charity climb supports the efforts of Jiamini, a non-profit organization, in building the Jiamini Educational Center in the impoverished area of Newala, Tanzania.
Jiamini educates and fully supports hundreds of students – providing better education, living standards, helping them make it to college and land better jobs – thereby breaking the cycle of poverty from which they come and changing lives.

Jiamini Education Center Vision:
Seeing the greatest local need and analyzing what will have the longest-term impact, Jiamini developed plans to build the Jiamini Educational Center.
This center will host a public library, computer learning center, spaces for one-on-one tutoring and counseling, classrooms for general classes and English course, an entrepreneur hub for Jiamini graduates, a confidential contraception, sex education, and STI testing center, and an agricultural learning space/small farm.
This educational center will be a launch-pad of the best & brightest students of an entire region – and will empower deserving students to make it to university, land better jobs, and change their country. It will also provide employment for current Jiamini graduates who wish to serve as teachers, tutors and operators of the center.
This educational center is a strategic move towards ending the generational cycle of poverty in this area by delivering the vital tools these smart, hard-working, and talented but disadvantages students need to flourish.
Our goal is to raise $100,000, of which 100% of these funds will go directly to Jiamini to build this vital center that holds so much promise for the future of children in need and the communities in which they live.
These funds allow Jiamini to build and develop the center, and appoint it with all the equipment, educational materials, furnishings and staff needed to operate the facility.
