I will be jumping from an airplane to raise money for Lucy’s Love Bus at Skydive New England. I am jumping alongside Billerica Rotary members and their families as well as spending the day celebrating this amazing organization. I was inspired by Beecher Grogan, Co-founder and Executive director of Lucy’s Love Bus. Beecher talked about her daughter, Lucy’s, love and compassion for her friends fighting cancer and her wish to help all children obtain non-covered alternative therapies like massage, acupuncture, reiki, animal therapy and much more. The average age of a child who dies from cancer is 7 years old and although there is 5 Billion dollars spent on cancer research only 3.18% of it goes towards children’s cancer research. Lucy passed away and her Mother’s story of strength and resilience gave me the push to make this jump. I was asked why and what I took from Beecher’s presentation was all children fighting cancer are scared and at the mercy of everyone around them and you could participate in a walk or run to raise money and that’s great, easy, and fun, but jumping from an plane is usually way way out of most people’s comfort zone and that’s the reality for these children. So, I’m going to make the Leap for Love and raise as much money as I possibly can. Please consider digging into your wallets to donate $5, $10, $50 any amount comfortable for you is truly appreciated! Thank you -- Kathie
