I'm a final year vet student at the University of Glasgow in bonnie Scotland, although I was born and raised in California. I have always been involved in community education of animal welfare, shelter medicine and greatly enjoy providing veterinary care in areas that greatly need it.
This June, I will be packing in my scrubs and stethascope and going on a journey of a life time to South Dakota to work with the Lower Brule and Pine Ridge Reservations with Rural Area Veterinary Services (RAVS). They are a great nonprofit that provides free veterinary care to the remote community while training hundreds of veterinary students each year.
It’s going to be challenging with long days and little sleep, but I suspect it will be a life-changing experience.
