Dear Friends and Family,
This summer, after finishing my 3rd year of vet school, I'm excited to share that I'll be volunteering with RAVS in South Dakota! Rural Area Veterinary Services (RAVS) is an organization that provides veterinary care to rural communities. Too often, animals can't receive the care they need due to various circumstances, but RAVS aims to make sure they aren't forgotten!
Our team will provide services such as vaccinations, spay/neuter, and life-saving treatments. We provide these all free of cost, so we rely on contributions from our communities.
I need your help! Please consider making a donation to RAVS! Your support would mean the world to me, but more importantly to the animals. Here are some examples of what your donation goes to:
$10: Vaccine for dog/cat
$25: Treat a dog with tick-borne illness
$35: Drugs/surgical materials to spay/neuter dog/cat
$75: Life-saving parvo virus treatment for a puppy
$100: Spay/neuter, vaccines, prevention for dog/cat
$250: Emergency surgery and aftercare for dog/cat
Every animal matters. Any little bit helps. Thank you!

In June of 2019, RAVS staff and volunteers will travel to South Dakota visiting the Lower Brule and Pine Ridge Reservations. The team of roughly 30 veterinary students and 15 professional volunteers will offer free spay/ neuter and wellness care to more than 1,000 animals in these remotes communities where regular veterinary care is not available. In addition to wellness services, RAVS’ volunteers will care for animals with a wide range of health concerns including puppies suffering from parvovirus and distemper infections and older animals suffering from multiple infirmities. We will help animals with old traumatic injuries and festering wounds, returning them to a happier life with their family. While providing this care, our volunteers and staff will be educating the family on animal care and public health, helping to make the community a better place for the animals and the people of Lower Brule and Pine Ridge. https://www.lowerbrulesiouxtribe.com/ https://friendsofpineridgereservation.org/
