The impact of disasters on our neighbors is growing at an extraordinary rate. In the U.S. alone, over 15 million people were affected by disasters between 2006 and 2015, an increase of 43 percent over the prior decade. In 2019 alone, your South Carolina Red Cross provided 4,700 overnight shelter stays, 30,000 meals and snacks were served and 1,338 clean up kits were distributed for Hurricane Dorian. While we cannot stop disasters from happening, we can be better prepared. From record-breaking hurricanes to single-family house fires, the Red Cross must always be ready to respond. We are in the business of saving lives. In fact, over the past 3 years, we have 71 documented lives saved in South Carolina due to our Home Fire Campaign. With your support, our response can become even faster and stronger, to help the growing number of people in need of disaster relief and recovery assistance. We hope you will join us!
