Anything that would allow faster processing and posting of photos would be a big help.
As of March 2019 I have just over 10,000 photos posted and a backlog of around 20,000 - 50,000 photos to scan, process, and upload to www.lostphotos.org, so I don't need more photos for now. The main bottleneck is time, limited by the equipment I have on hand, consisting of a standard Windows 10 PC and an HP Scanjet G4050 scanner, with the scanner's scanning time being the largest piece of time where I'm waiting for something to happen.
Most helpful would be a larger and/or faster scanner.
The G4050, which connects by a USB 2.0 cable, has a scanning area of 9" x 12" for a total area of 108 square inches. I'd like to get a larger scanner like an Epson Expression 12000XL (12" x 17", 204 square inches, around $2,900) or a Xerox DocuMate 4700 (11.7" x 17", 198.9 square inches, around $603). There are larger scanners than these, but beyond this size range the scanner's maximum resolution drops below the 1200 - 2400 dpi I use for Lost Photos. The 12000XL and 4700 are both at the sweet spot with a large scanning area and a decent maximum resolution.
