On August 24th 2019, I will be participating in the Lost Lake Run; a trail race fundraiser to support those who are suffering from Cystic Fibrosis. This year means a little more as I had a student this year who is living with CF. She's a very inspirational 7th grader who amazed me every day with her work ethic and smile. The monies we raise will fund life-saving research. Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a devastating genetic disease involving the buildup of thick, sticky, mucus that clogs the lungs, causing serious respiratory damage, and obstructs the pancreas, leading to nutritional deficiencies. The daily battle to fight this disease is all time consuming, and expensive. Even with a strong fight, the median age of survival for people diagnosed with CF is their thirties. I am eager for the opportunity to raise funds and compete in the Lost Lake Run; Running Lost Lake is a beautiful and humbling experience. It's 16 miles of gorgeous mountain scenery that pushes you to your physical limits. Every endurance race turns into a mental test though, and this one makes you think hard. You're reminded by the mile markers on the trail of the children you're running and raising money for. The children that are fighting a terrible disease in Cystic Fibrosis. As you're struggling up and down the mountain you realize that it's nothing compared to what they go through on a daily basis. I have set a goal of $500.00 for 2019; you can make a donation that will help find a cure for this unrelenting disease. The CF Foundation is a very efficient organization, nearly 90 cents of every dollar raised is available for the investment in life-saving programs to support research, care, and education. Please take this opportunity to show your support in making a donation today. Any amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated and all contributions are 100 percent tax deducible. Thank you for your support and generosity.
