This scholarship fund was created in memory of Lorraine A. Richards of Frederiksted, St. Croix. Lorraine was an alumnus of the St. Croix Central High School, the University of the Virign Islands. After graduating from UVI, she taught at the Alexander Henderson Elementary School for 34 years and directly impacted the lives of over 1,000 families in the St. Croix community. Although she taught all subjects as an elementary school teacher, math was unquestionably her favorite. Her students and colleagues loved, respected and appreciated her expertise. Ms. Richards’ students have since excelled in many aspects of life and are clear benefactors of her passion as an educator.
She is known in Frederiksted as a generous friend, mother and education advocate. Ms. Richards is the mother of a Good Hope School alumnus.
The Lorraine Richards Memorial Scholarship fund will be used to help send an academically-talented, disadvantaged, elementary school student from St. Croix to the Good Hope Country Day School. Students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
No contribution is too small.
