After running the NYC Marathon in 2017 I talked to many of you about how I thought a Half Marathon would be more my distance... :-) By chance, as I was scrolling through emails late one weekend over a glass or two of wine, I saw the lottery was open for the NYC Half Marathon. "Yes!" I confidently thought, "I can train through the winter and run a half early in 2020. It will be great motivation to kick-start a healthy 2020!". I forgot all about it until December, when I took my running gear on vacation and, as I started running again after a long hiatus thought "Wierd that I never heard about the NYC Half. I guess I didn't get a place." Luckily enough, I started running regularly because, as I was scrolling through my emails, tidying up my in-box on a flight to Oklahoma City at the end of January, I discovered an email from November entitled "Congratulations! You have a place in the NYC Half Marathon!". It's on March 15. I have kicked myself in to gear and am happy with my training. I'm going to try and do it in less than 2 hours 45 mins. I'm also using the opportunity to garner your support for City Harvest, who can provide NYC's food pantries with enough food for four meals for every dollar you sponsor me. Unfortunately 40% of New Yorkers struggle to make ends meet. One in every five children in our city lives with food insecurity. In a city that has so much, we can close the hunger gap and make sure everyone knows where their next meal is coming from. I'm running for them and would love your partnership along the 13.1 miles. Thank you for considering.
