Another year older and unfortunately not the least bit wiser. I have again been bitten by the bug to do something unpleasant for charity – this time the London Marathon. As in previous years I will be running for Achilles International. I became acquainted to the charity while based in Mongolia. It was Achilles Mongolia that motivated me to run my first half marathon in Ulaanbaatar and then run as a guide in the NY marathon of 2016 and 2017. Founded in 1983 Achilles seeks to bring hope, inspiration, and the joys of achievement to people with disabilities through the medium of running. Achilles has chapters and members in over 55 locations internationally. Every day, in parks, gyms, and tracks all over the world, Achilles provides athletes with disabilities with a community of support. Able-bodied volunteers and disabled runners come together to train in an environment of support and community. You can find the closest chapter to you here: https://www.achillesinternational.org/international-chapters I was planning on running with a bucket to collect donations as I make my way around the course. In the event you are unable to attend the marathon to support me, please do make use of this page. Any and all donations are gratefully received. I plan to update this page periodically with some photos from my training… watch this space.
