Meet Loki: Intake # TN-170717-A Pit Bull Male 3 1/2 Years old Approximately 40 lbs. Up-To-Date on all Vaccines Neutered Intake Date: February 17, 2017 Owner Surrendered His description sounds familiar. Another "Owner Surrendered" Pit Bull to a local Shelter. And, yes...it is familiar to us. We get tons of Pit Bulls, amongst other breeds, every day at BC Protect & Rescue Foundation. This is what we do. And yes, we took Loki from his owner back in February of 2017. At that time, he didn't even know how to go to the bathroom outside. His owner only allowed him into the basement of their house and that is where Loki did everything, including going to the bathroom.... in that same basement. Close to 2 years later, Loki has learned to walk on a leash, to do his business outside like other dogs do, he has even taken well to basic commands, as well as, made quite a few friends here at our facility both human and canine. The only problem is (and it's a big one) is that Loki bites, and he will bite anyone and we are never quite sure when he will. He shows no true loyalty. Let us tell you a quick story to understand him: A volunteer takes Loki home for a sleepover. Yay! What fun. And, yes Loki had a great time. He was obedient, well-behaved and happy. The volunteer takes him back to the Shelter the next morning. Loki is great in the car. He brings him back into his pen. Oh yes, we do have a customized pen for Loki. It's about 5 feet by 5 feet and has everything except a TV. The volunteer gets him back into his pen. All good. Loki gets extremely angry when he has to go back into his pen. Every day. We have only a chosen few Staff that take him out. On this day, the volunteer who just took him home the night before decides to go back in and fix Loki's bedding. His glasses fall in the pen. When he reaches down to get them....Loki bites his hand. Pretty hard. 4 punctures both top and bottom. Ouch. This happens often. Loki has acquired quite a bite history and it is becoming dangerous. For him. We are a TRUE NO-KILL Shelter. Truly. And we don't want to see Loki get into anymore trouble. We just want him to live his life. Like a dog. We honestly cannot give him what he needs. However, we found someone who can and we are hoping you can help us get Loki to his lifelong Sanctuary where he can be free and be a dog. Alan Papszycki is the Founder of Spirit Animal Sanctuary and he has accepted Loki. Feel free to check out his website: www.spiritanimal.org. Alan works off the dog's emotions. He doesn't even use treat rewards. He gets into their heads. Loki would have a lengthy one-on-one assessment with Alan. Then Alan introduces him into small packs to see how he does. Eventually, Loki will go into a bigger pack and just be able to run and play and go inside or outside. Just be a dog. We are excited for this opportunity. It does not come up often. Loki is perfect for this type of setting and deserves a chance to have his freedom. The lifetime fee for Loki's residence at the sanctuary is $7000. Can you help us raise his freedom ride?? Please share this with all your friends or Join Our Team. Your Donations are Tax deductible. We are a 501(c)3. A donation receipt is emailed to you at the time of your donation. We thank you, in advance and are excited for those who jump on Loki's Freedom Train! BC Protect & Rescue Foundation
