Lindsey and Michelle are friends, philanthropists, and healers who are "traveling with purpose" to Nepal in March to support Empowerment Collective, a women-led nonprofit working to empower women in Nepal through skill development, education, and women's health.
We are incredibly honored and blessed to not only experience Nepali culture but to also be able to provide healing workshops to help the women of the Empowerment Collective to find their voice and step into their power.
Our goal is to raise $5k to support this cause.
Nasreen Sheikh, the heart and soul of this movement, escaped a forced marriage and factory-slave labor as a child (Nasreen's story: TED Talk). She works relentlessly with limited resources to empower the women of Nepal and provide them with opportunities for financial independence through skills training to produce handmaid, fair trade, local handicrafts. Nasreen's efforts have been in effect since 2013 however the Empowerment Collective non-profit (which Michelle is a board member of) is a new endevour. The "travel with purpose" event is an annual event conceived by Nasreen and the board . It is now in it's second year.
Lindsey and Michelle believe in the empowerment of women and have dedicated their lives to be of service to others. This nine-day cultural experience includes the famous Holi Color Festival, a Hindu spring festival which signifies the victory of good over evil, visiting heritage sites and the Local Women's Handicrafts Cooperative shop in Kathmandu, and spriritual and empowerment workshops (led by us!), and so much more!
To be transparent, a small portion of the funds we raise will cover our costs to attend and be able to host events. We will be responsible for travel. Moreover, we hope to raise awareness and funds to support this work while engaging with the women and culture through hands on experience.
