What is a food desert?: food des·ert: an urban area in which it is difficult to buy affordable or good-quality fresh food. Not much is surprising in 2018 America, but I could hardly believe so many of these food deserts exist right in our backyard...the supposed land of Milk and Honey. The deserts are in places like Dayton, Ohio, Camden, New Jersey, and Washington, DC. In these places, access to fresh vegetables, fruits, and other foods you'd need to make healthy meals could be 10 miles away from homes. Many of these food deserts are located in eastern American. You can learn about them here: http://americannutritionassociation.org/newsletter/usda-defines-food-deserts.
I have set an independent goal to raise $2000 for Mighty Greens, a grass roots organization working to alleviate food insecurity for the people of D.C. CIty Blossoms is the organization making that possible and I'd love to contribute.
Will you help me?
