Help us never have to say: "It is with deep regret that I must inform you that our charity has run out of funds and we are not able to help you in your greatest time of need."
We cannot predict when our house will be lost to a fire, our spouse is diagnosed with cancer, or our child become ill with an unexpected diagnosis. Over the last 23-years, the Jim McLean Memorial Brotherhood Fund [659 Brotherhood Fund] has been able to provide assistance to IBEW Local 659 members who are faced with these devastating realities.
We need your help to ensure this charity can continue its mission and fully fund all request for assistance and provide assistance to our sisters and brothers in their greatest time of need. This year has been unprecedented with the coronavirus and the devastating conditions in which the wildfires caused substantial destruction to many towns within Local Union 659 jurisdiction throughout Oregon and Northern California: Ashland; Blue River; Detroit; Eagle Point; Estacada; Otis; Phoenix; Shady Cove; Talent; Vida and Happy Camp (just to list a few). It is now time for us to come together and help our fellow Sisters and Brothers who have been affected by these tragedies and our communities.
The Jim McLean Memorial Brotherhood Fund has already distributed more funds during 2020 than any year in its history. Our reserves are running dangerously low and we need your help to continue to support our union sisters and brothers in need.
The Memorial Fund only supports IBEW Local 659 members who have a genuine financial need as a result of a major loss, such as a fire, flood, or catastrophic injury or illness, including the death of a spouse or child with a once in a lifetime benefit capped at $500.
Please help us meet these unprecedented challenges, give generously, and assist your sisters and brothers in sickness and distress. Help make tomorrow better for someone!
We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.
