It was a cold winter, February of 2019. Liz & Alli were hitting a wall with their karaoke performances- it seemed that every time they picked up the mic, the magic was not there. So, the two gave karaoke a break. During this time they both had their ups and downs in their individual lives. There's something about a Maine winter that forces change and clarity to ones being. Liz & Alli arrived at the SMWC by the winter winds of fate- after scrolling through the local events near me on Facebook. It seemed to good to be true, a Karaoke fundraiser. Right then and there it was decided that Liz & Alli would take the stage again. The two practiced day and night, filmed and released a promo video, and decided on their go-to song to perform. Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart is how Liz & Alli introduced themselves to the SMWC.
Not only did Liz & Alli sing their hearts out and give the performance of a lifetime, they met folks from the SMWC. Later, Liz would come to learn about the workers center over time and become more involved as time would allow it. Liz loves the SMWC, she feels that she's lucky to have stumbled upon them to discover who they are and what they stand for. Both Liz & Alli can relate to the relief in finding community centered in service and the heart. They look forward to this year's fundraiser and hope we will do what we can.
