On Sunday, June 23rd I will once again be running the BAA 10K in support of the Living Donor Center. Living kidney donors have been an important part of my life since well before I was born. From my grandmother in 1973 to most recently, my father in 2014, I've seen the incredible impact a living kidney donation can have on a person and a family. This year I will be running in memory of Rob Roy, one of the greatest living kidney donor recipients and people you could be lucky to know.
The Brigham and Women's Hospital Living Donor Center is devoted to helping prospective living kidney donors navigate the complexities of donation, from the moment that they first express interest in kidney donation through long-term health maintenance and follow up post-donation. Donating a kidney to another human being is a wonderful gift, and also a very significant one. It is our mission to support our donors through the process as seamlessly as possible.
All funds raised through this event will be used to support and recognize BWH living kidney donors. This will allow us to do such things as: cover hospital parking costs or unanticipated expenses incurred as a result of kidney donation, develop enhanced educational materials for prospective donors, and defray the costs of events designed to educate, support, and recognize kidney donors and their families.
Thank you so much for your consideration in helping me reach my goal!
