Each year, the Chaldean American Student Association invites our fellow CASA chapters, as well as the rest of the community, to visit us in Ann Arbor for our annual completely sponsored event, Live From Babylon, featuring music, dancing, and other cultural activities, to benefit a charity in our community. This year, our event will take place on Friday, March 22nd, 2019 at Club Above in Downtown Ann Arbor. The organization we have chosen to donate 100% of the proceeds to is the Chaldean Community Foundation (CCF), the nonprofit arm of the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce.
The turmoil in Iraq and surrounding areas has taken a toll on thousands of families, which are comprised of mostly Christians, including Assyrians, Chaldeans, Syriacs, Armenians, and other ancient and historic cultures. These refugees have been forced to flee their homelands, and many have relocated in the Southeastern Michigan area. Since its inception in 2006, the CCF's primary goals have been rooted in our Chaldean cultural heritage, with an emphasis on serving these newcomer immigrant communities. The CCF has dedicated its efforts to advancing the social, cultural heritage and charity work in the local Chaldean community, as well as improving the stability, health, and wellness of the people it serves, through methods of advocacy, acculturation, community development, and cultural preservation.
With your help and generous donations to the Chaldean Community Foundation, we hope to make Live From Babylon 2019 the most successful event in CASA’s history. We wholeheartedly believe that the mission of CCF aligns with the goals of the Chaldean American Student Association, as well as the Chaldean community at-large. We hope that you are able to aid in our fundraising efforts by choosing to donate to Live from Babylon!!
