Pearl , and her [ possibly ] father, now named Peyton , were running down a road when a friend spotted them. Next thing you know , into the murky canal they went . Without hesitation, Mike jumped in the gator infested water and got Pearl and Peyton to safety . Immediately they saw their condition and contacted us ! . Both skinny , both with mange .
But Pearl’s condition is so severe , even our demodex specialist foster has never seen a case this bad . Her skin literally dying , scabbed over and infected . She carried The smell of death . I had them call animal control to have them Picked up. Immediately they sent an officer and when brought to Acc , the vet there gave pearl an initial dose of antibiotics and cleaned her up a bit . Once she was stabilized , she went to our vet , Dr Felz , Ibis Animal Hospital . More dead skin was removed and cleaned . Blood work and other testing was done. Next visit she should be strong enough and will be under sedation to remove more necrotic tissue .
Pearl has a long road of recovery ahead of her. Not only in her daily care , cleaning medications , but surgical procedures and therapies !
Please donate and help Pearl . We thank you ! Pearl thanks you !!
Peyton is healing well and once recovered they will be available for adoption .
Some of the photos are heartbreaking and I want to apologize In advance . We feel it’s important to show the extent of her wounds . Something that could have been easily cured when it began , was left to fester and become so extreme .
