I am grateful for many things in my life.
As an athlete I am grateful to have recently discovered the joy of running, and to be healthy enough to pursue my new passion.
As a reader I am grateful to my 4th grade teacher for establishing a classroom library and igniting my love of books.
As a parent I am grateful to have been able to provide a literature-rich home in which to raise my children.
As an educator I am grateful for my wonderful job, working with 4th and 5th grade students as a School Library Media Specialist in Danbury, Connecticut.
And I am grateful and honored to be running the TSC New York City Marathon to raise funds for Literacy Partners. Family reading has a huge impact on childhood academic development. That’s why I choose to #RuntoRead. Every dollar raised will help Literacy Partners provide free literacy and language classes to low-income parents along with a home library of children’s books for their families. With your help, Literacy Partners students can have the resources they need to succeed, opening doors to better jobs and opportunities. Your participation helps two generations at once and closes the achievement gap.
Thank you, friends, for supporting this wonderful organization. And if you send me the name of a song that inspires you I will add it to my race day playlist.
I am grateful for you!
