Hi friends! I'm riding in the Five Boro Bike Tour this year in support of the LIPF, an organization that works tirelessly to support those experiencing (or caregiving for) depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. The organization has historically given a boost to a ton of great initiatives, including organizing mental health care for NYFD firefighters and their families, making strides in the tech field to help with research and development of new detection methods and treatments, and creating opportunities for sufferers to share their stories and engage in discussions to help fight the stigmas associated with mental health.
I'm riding alongside, and in honor of, a huge network of friends, family members, and New Yorkers in particular who have ever struggled with mental and emotional health in any capacity (note: it's a fact that you either know someone, or you know know someone who knows someone, who's affected). On a personal level, this all-day ride represents the endurance I know is sometimes so hard to find in ourselves to get through certain minutes and hours, let alone days, of our lives when the burden of pressing on just feels too heavy. I'm striving to frame this journey in a positive light and apply that same good energy to those days that feel like a similar challenge. The LIPF and I hugely appreciate your support!
