BOSTON to LONDON for #TeamLingzi
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I am excited to once again be part of #TeamLingzi, as we run the 2020 Boston Marathon in loving memory of Lingzi Lu. Incredibly honored that The Lingzi Foundation has placed their trust in my commitment to (a 3rd year) of training and fundraising as part of the team. I am determined to do all that I can to raise - and with your help, hopefully surpass - my fundraising goal of $8,500.
This year I will take on an additional challenge by running The London Marathon, on April 26th, just six days after Boston. It won't be easy, with such a short recovery time between races; but it's a once in a lifetime opportunity that I am excited to accept on behalf of The Foundation.
About The Lingzi Foundation
The Lingzi Foundation honors the example set by Lingzi Lu, who spread love and compassion while fearlessly following her dreams, by providing educational opportunities for courageous and ambitious students like her, and supporting organizations that reflect her passions and recognize those making a positive impact in building bridges between cultures and communities.
As a native Bostonian and avid runner, the Boston Marathon has always had a special place in my heart. The 2013 marathon bombings hit close to home, and after learning about the tragic loss of Lingzi, I wanted to do my part to help honor her life and memory. No one should lose their life, simply by being a spectator at a marathon.
Running the 2018 and 2019 Boston Marathons as part of #TeamLingzi, and crossing the finish line in her memory, were hands down two of the best experiences of my life. I will never forget meeting Lingzi's parents and several of her family members just prior to the marathon in 2018; hearing their kind words of appreciation & gratitude inspired me to run with strength and purpose during that cold, rainy race. In those moments, I made a committment to further my involvement with #TeamLingzi and I am humbled to have the opportunity to do it all over again.
Any donation towards my mission with #TeamLingzi would be deeply appreciated - by myself, my fellow team members, Lingzi's family and The Lingzi Foundation. I am committed to reaching my goal and come race day, that final number will be a reflection of our efforts together. We may not be able to change the events of that day in 2013 - but we can continue to pull together, honoring the example and life of remarkable individuals such as Lingzi Lu, to ensure that peace and kindness win in the end.
Thank you again for taking the time to read about my 2020 Boston and London Mararthon journey. I can't wait to lace up my sneakers on April 20th and join my fellow #TeamLingzi members at the Hopkinton start, for the third year in a row. My legs may be tired, but I'll look forward to running an additional 26.2 miles, (6 days later, this time in London) for our team.
I know we can reach this fundraising goal, allowing The Lingzi Foundation to continue charitable works in Lingzi's name. And in return, I promise to run those 26.2 miles (x2) with purpose and determination. Together, we are all #TeamLingzi and #BostonStrong.
