James Robert Graham-Lineage Ride 2019
"Honoring our Past...Protecting Our Future"
Honor someone in your "lineage", that has contributed to who you are today.
Protecting Our Future: Raise needed funds to support Able Nation's mission of providing training and equipment to protect our nation's children from Active Threats in our churches and schools.
Please prayerfully consider supporting me as I ride in honor of my dad, James Robert Graham.
My earliest memories are pretending to be asleep in the car so he would carry me inside.
I can't begin to describe what all I put him through in my hell-raising teen years... I'd prefer to forget those memories of myself from those days, but what I remember about him is that he was always there.
As men, he joined me and my SEAL buddies on the 2010 Lance Vaccaro Memorial Ride to honor a close friend and Teammate that we'd lost. I've never seen him come alive like that...I was proud that he got to see that part of my story, and that he got to be a part of that brotherhood. Some dads and sons have sports, or cars, we had motorcycles.
Looking through all the photos after his death, there was a pretty clear story. In each of my significant life events, he was there supporting me. In fact, the last time I saw my dad, he was supporting another one of my events here in Colorado. He called me out of the blue and offered to ride out for it. We rode motorcycles all day, had lunch together, and picked up my kids from school. Before he left we had a great talk... the talk that I'd chickened out of the summer prior. I thanked him for being a great dad and told him that I loved him. That moment was a gift.
A week later he died in a motorcycle accident with his church buddies. He was doing what he loved, with men that he respected. Not a bad way to go.
People asked me after his accident if I would still ride. I told them that if I removed the dangerous parts of my life, there wouldn't be much left... He was excited about this ride and would've given anything to be with us. Love you dad.
All proceeds from this ride will support Able Nation 501(c)(3)
