Dear friends and family,
By now most of you know that I am the Board Co-Chair of i-tri, a nonprofit based on the east end of Long Island where I live. i-tri offers an extraordinary empowerment program to middle-school girls which helps them build self-confidence and self-esteem though a 6-month program of coaching and mentoring. Our program teaches our girls so much…. including how to bike and run and swim, skills many do not have when they join us. The culminating achievement for the girls in our program is that each one completes a youth-distance triathlon, something they do with joy and overwhelming pride. Participating in our program changes our girls lives in so many positive ways-academically, emotionally, socially. (Do visit www.itrigirls.org to learn more about us and see our girls and their parents talk about this very special program.)
i-tri spends approximately $2500/girl to provide our girls with all the hands-on lessons, coaching, equipment, training and transportation that they need.
Despite the 2020 COVID related challenges which moved our program online, for the upcoming 2021 season i-tri is looking forward to bringing our program to 300 girls from the east end of Long Island and BEYOND.
We can only do all this with the support of caring friends like you. Might you join me again in supporting this terrific cause?
i-tri's most important fundraiser of the year is Giving Day- which is today!
We have been challenged this year by an anonymous donor to raise $150,000 by October 22, 2020. If we meet this challenge, i-tri will receive an additional $50,000, bringing us to our $200,000 goal! Please help us reach this goal--every donation makes a difference.
Two weeks ago we kicked off our fall fundraising season with a bike ride which was dedicated to my wonderful late husband, Rik Kranenburg. At that event we raised over $30,000 in his memory. I would like to grow that today. Rik was a big fan of i-tri's work and rode proudly in our fundraising bike rides every year.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your continued support and generosity over the years. I would be so grateful for any donation you might be able to make this year.
