Lily Young, a Telluride high school freshman, aims to tackle her first ride this year of 70 miles! "My Dad and I are riding for the Just For Kids Foundation because we care about the health of the communities where we live. I love living in Telluride because of all the amazing things I can do outside and I want all kids to have the same opportunity as me."
Along with her dad, Mike Young, Lily has two giant fans supporting her ride: "Cousin" Jen (with a 30 year age difference) and Aunt Kristen (age TBD).
Here's what your support of this ride bolsters for the community:
--Just For Kids Foundation grants money to youth organizations along the watershed the Mountains to Desert Ride follows: Telluride, Norwood, Nucla, Naturita, and Gateway.
--JFK is unique in its focus solely on youth programs and college scholarships.
--In Telluride, we lose side of the disparity in San Miguel County. Over 25% of students in the Telluride School District receive free and reduced lunch, and over 20% of students identify as Latino.
--In other school districts JFK serves, the free and reduced lunch rate hovers around 40%.
--Over the past 15 years, JK has granted regional youth programs over $2 million dollars!
Please support this family as we ride to support other families in this gorgeous region!
