Every month Bob and I head down to Light of Life Rescue Mission to play music and share hope with a room full of men in the emergency shelter. I am without appropriate words to share the impact this has had on our lives. As is often the case when we serve, we went in thinking we would offer something to them and come away being filled. This is so far outside of our comfort zone and yet we know we are called to continue. Sometimes it is straight up hard. But continuing to show up and stay committed over the last two and half years shows the men we love and care for them in ways that feel really deeply important. They are worth it. Just as they are. God has been showing me again and again that He wants me to know just how much He loves me, regardless of whether I seem to have it all together. He wants the men in that shelter to know that too. So this is what we do. It began with a walk in 2013 and has grown into so much more.
