What was it for you?
Maybe it was the first time you paddled a boat by yourself. Maybe it was that backpacking trip where it rained the WHOLE time. Maybe it was when you finally reached the top of that climb. Maybe it was getting back on your bike after the fall that broke your helmet.
Anyone who loves the outdoors and believes in the power of nature to inspire and transform, has had that life changing trip or moment. The one where you learned something about yourself that you've never forgotten. The one where you realized you can do more than you ever thought. Or that you were worthy. Or that you were strong.
CAT wants to provide that life changing moment for group of under-served youth from Chicago. July 31 through August 4th, we will take young people from the city to the marvelous beauty of the Apostle Islands. We will paddle, camp, cook, laugh, and grow together for five days.
Will you help provide that life changing trip?
Here is what two young people had to say about the ways that CAT has changed their lives:
I'm thankful for the therapeutic effects of being on the water, I'm thankful for all the genuine support coming from CAT PC instructors. Despite battling through depression, paddling is that 1 thing I really look forward to, it makes me feel relaxed yet accomplished.
One thing that I loved about Chicago Adventure Therapy is they accept all different kinds of ethnicities, backgrounds, sexual orientation. It was no discrimination. We weren’t looked down upon for being poor or homeless or a gang member. It was just all about paddling and all about building a community…These people are more like my family, a family that I never had.
