We need your help! Please! We are still well below our goal.
Update on Libby- she had her surgery last Friday and we picked her up late Saturday. They found a black hair tie or rubber band tied around her leg that had obviously been there for some time. It’s sad to believe that humans can cause harm to innocent creatures but thankfully for Libby she will never have to worry about being hurt by anyone again! She is recovering and we still have to address her walking issue. It has taken a toll on her entire system and she will have weeks of recovery and possibly therapy, but hopefully no long term damage. This little girl is beyond sweet and we will make sure she gets the best care. We have Guardian Veterinary Specialty Hospital to thank once again.
LIBBY came to Saving Paws Rescue, Inc. over a month ago, literally the day after being spayed and having a mammary tumor removed. She always walked off balance and I honestly contributed it to her being on pain meds from the surgery. Fast forward about 10 days later and she is still walking off balance. We took her to our vet who thought it could be neurological. We then took her to the neurologist last week and he immediately found that her right leg is inflamed and painful to her. X-rays showed what seems to be a piece of her bone missing. He aspirated the area for cells to hopefully rule out bone cancer. Good news, no cancer!!! But when he showed the x-rays to an orthopedic doctor, they felt something is cutting off the bone, a piece of string tied her leg in the past, maybe a rubber band. It was now imbedded into her skin and bone. We had a follow up visit with the orthopedic doctor today, May 3, and they kept her and did surgery TODAY to figure out what is going on and relieve her of the pain she has been dealing with for who knows how long. Libby just came out of surgery this afternoon and the surgeon found that a rubber band was wrapped around her leg.
We desperately need your help; this surgery and pre-op visits alone are over $1,600.
Keep in mind, we still haven’t covered the issue of why she is walking off balance. We had to take care of her leg and rule out bone cancer first.
