Hello Dear Friends,
We are raising funds to help the Louisiana Himalaya Association (LHA) support the Clean Water Project, which provides more than 10,000 people with access to safe drinking water every day.
Eight years ago, a small group of New Orleans volunteers traveled to India with LHA and encountered surprising numbers of Tibetan refugees, especially children, afflicted with dysentery and other waterborne illnesses. Witnessing such preventable suffering led them to embark on the Clean Water Project. Since then his project has installed 28 water filtration systems in schools, monasteries, nunneries, and community centers in Tibetan refugee settlements around the foothills of the Himalayas of Northern India.
The annual maintenance of these water filtration systems is usually paid for by the proceeds of the Apocolypse Ball--LHA’s annual Mardi Gras fundraiser. Ironically, health restrictions will prevent us from throwing this fundraiser during these truly apocalyptic times.
It takes only $5,500 a year to maintain these water filtration systems. We are asking for your financial support to keep these vital waters running for the refugees in Dharamsala, home of his holiness, the Dalai Lama. Donations of any size will be much appreciated. Even just a couple anonymous dollars with your name on the list helps show support to our Tibetan friends during this difficult time.
100% of your donation will go directly to the maintenance of the water filtration systems (repairs, filter replacements, etc).
Your donations, big or small, will have an immediate, long-lasting impact. For every $10 contribution, 20 people will have safe clean drinking water for an entire year!
Thank you from all of us for your generosity!
Eva Sohl and the A Krewe
PS - Last year was the 20th anniversary of the Apocolypse Ball! BIG THANKS to the Apocolypse Krewe and all friends and family who have supported LHA and the projects over the past years! For more info on LHA or ways to volunteer, please go to www.lhainfo.org.
