Help us support our LGBT and Homeless youth during this time of need.
I know that the right thing isn't always the easiest thing. After weeks of social distancing, most of us are at our wit's end trying to find things to do around our homes. We've cleaned out closets, organized pantries, discovered new hobbies, and watched our favorite TV shows on Netflix... ten times over.
The kids in our community are a lot like you and me. Their scheduled events have been canceled and they're trying to find things to keep themselves busy while they're indoors. We're asking for your support if you are able, to support two organizations serving LGBT and Homeless youth.
The first is Promise House youth Homeless shelter as they work to stock their library and game room. A child in the Promise House Emergency Youth Shelter said something that really hit home for a lot of staff. "We need books to take us to another world. The library is supposed to be like an escape room." Oftentimes, books, games, and creative play offer a sense of relief to youth who don't get that experience in other areas of their lives. That's why they are working to renovate and beautify the Promise House Library and Game Room.
The second is LGBTQ SAVES. Right now LGBTQ SAVES is currently working with youth who are either homeless or transient whom LGBTQ SAVES currently placed with other families in the group so they have a safe place to stay during COVID-19. However, they do need help keeping them fed. So they are asking for donations to help the host families to keep them fed through the shelter in place.
We kindly ask that you join us in supporting our LGBT and Homeless Youth. Your gift will help provide immediate financial support so they can purchase food, and other supplies. Help keep our kids safe and healthy during this pandemic.
