Lewis County Public Library and Archives is in rural Hohenwald, TN. Serving over 12, 000 residents, our library is a central hub for the community, providing much more than just books. Free wi-fi, educational programming for all ages, technology training, and club/organization meeting space are just a few of the many services provided from our small space of less than 5,000 square feet. Our focus on the preservation of county archive materials has determined a need to create a large space that properly maintains and preserves these important historical materials, as well as a proper viewing room for visitors to peruse them. A recent inspection highlighted additional areas of need in our existing facility including ADA compliant access throughout the building, additional restrooms, a technology lab, improved security systems, a large community meeting room, and more private study areas for patrons. An architectural rendering of a building expansion has resolved all of these issues by nearly doubling our square footage at a projected expense of over $950,000.
Friends of the Lewis County Public Library has adopted this project, Lewis County Library Expansion Project, as its primary goal knowing that many fundraisers, grants, and donations will be necessary for its achievement. Please watch our brief video about this ambitious project to improve our facility for the Lewis County community. Donations are tax deductible and graciously appreciated.
