2020 has been a wild ride that transformed an idea and a dream into a major reality. COVID 19 has changed all of our lives this year in one way or another. This shift in our world has given LETTUM EAT! an opportunity to bless our community in a huge way.
What started out as a handful of wishful initial meetings full of dreams of what this organization could be in January and February has turned into an organization that has fed 75,000 free meals to families who need it the most.
To look into the eyes of a person who didn’t know where their next meal was coming from and to see their joy and hope restored sparks a feeling in the soul that is unrivaled. The staff, volunteers, and sponsors of LETTUM EAT! have had the pleasure of doing this tens of thousands of times this year alone.
So many individuals and companies stepped up early to donate food, money, and time earlier in the year. Around July, we landed a COVID Relief Grant through Gwinnett County, GA that was in the multiple 6 figures. It was a reimbursement grant so money had to be spent in order to be recouped. We had a lot of early donors so we had spent a lot getting started. This money set us up in a big way to use this grant efficiently.
This grant was HUGE for us as an organization in that we could turn in receipts all the way back to March in order to get the money back. The gift that kept on giving, this one landmark blessing set us up on the wave that we’ve been riding until now. Our early financial backing has been recycled and recycled and has paved the way for this completely unexpected success.
All waves crash eventually and ours is about to get to shore. The reimbursement grant deadline is December 31, 2020. This grant has been our lifeline and the thing propping us up financially for most of the year and it is about to vanish.
HOPE. IS. NOT. LOST.
HOPE. IS. HERE.
In 2021, we are looking to continue our momentum and expand our reach well beyond what we achieved in 2020. The goal is a huge number for us to say but it is definitely one that is attainable with God on our side. The proposed budget for our dreams in 2021 is $375,000,000.
We started strong and we are ending the year with a big finish. $375,000.00 is just the beginning for LETTUM EAT!. Chef Hank, with LETTUM EAT!, is making a remarkable and unmistakable difference in our community with this organization that we all believe is a mission from God. We’re asking for help to get there and are believing it will come.
The Dreams of 2021:
- 100,000 Free Meals Distributed
We want to up our distribution from 75,000 to 100,000. We believe it can be done.
- Purchase at least one full service food truck to use as a mobile kitchen.
Our current food truck is currently a warming station and delivery vehicle. The goal is to be able to cook in the field.
- Purchase land with a building for our food prep and vehicle storage.
We appreciate our partnerships with churches all over our community but are looking for a solid home base that is our own.
- Expand into more food distribution locations.
We have served 12 locations with food distributions in 2020. We’re looking to see that number expand in 2021.
- Secure a FEMA contract to provide meals in disaster areas.
With a solid home base and a mobile kitchen, it is our desire to be “boots on the ground” in disaster areas both local and abroad. Examples of this would be the Tornado damage that periodically ravishes our local communities as well as Hurricanes and Flooding on the coasts during Hurricane Season.
