Please come forward and contribute. Your contribution will help the children know their blood group to deal faster in emergency cases! This will save precious lives!
Challenge Basic Health and Malnutrition is a significant issue effecting children in Rural Maharashtra, India. Due to constrained financial situations, the families often do not consider it important to keep the track of health of the children. People tend not even know the Blood Group, and often this costs the lives of children who need the blood infusion, as precious seconds are lost in knowing the blood groups. When they do, its often too late! hospitals are located far away, & parents lose vital income when they take children for health check-up. This intervention reaches children aged from 5 years to 12 years old from poor rural & tribal families.
Solution Early-Action runs community-based blood check-up camps in rural locations which enables us to identify and initiate the basic blood grouping camps for children, which will help them in the niche of time before they become seriously ill. The ID card will be issued to every child with their blood group, name and identity, which will be used for all the purpose and will be also maintained at the schools. We shall run 5 caps with the batch of 300 each, which shall help 1500 kids to have the proper medical identity.
Long-Term Impact Through this intervention we will see a reduction in the cases of fatalities in rural areas, along with increased awareness of the other cause of malnutrition and cases needing medical attention. When children will be identified with medical records individually, their general health improves which in the long term will enable them to focus on their education. We run follow up systems, where HWCT’s community health workers will visit children who have benefited from the camps to ensure they have not relapsed into any major illnesses.
