For the past five years, Worcester State University has had a faculty-led interdisciplinary Global Service Learning program to El Salvador during spring break, through the rural health organization, ASAPROSAR. See website: asaprosar.org
We are going again this May and hope to raise $1000 for eco-stoves ($600) and for a number of programs in women’s health care ($400). This will be in collaboration with the priorities set by each community.
ASAPROSAR, an internationally recognized NGO, is a completely El Salvadoran run organization that has been working for decades and is dedicated to sustainable development and community/family empowerment. They are involved in children’s programs, health education, rural health clinics, micro-credit and comprehensive community-driven environmental projects that include the eco-stoves, latrines, water filtration and animal husbandry.
The students participate in these programs and return with a respect and understanding of the many challenges rural communities face as well as the incredible resilience of the people who address these challenges each and every day. We so appreciate your support!
