Today, thousands of children are separated from their families because of the draconian policies of the Trump Administration. Children are held in cages at deportation concentration camps across the southern border, weeping and wailing for their families. On the other hand, still today, nearly 2.5 million people are incarcerated in this nation and half of them, 1.1 million, are black.
The issues of immigration reform and criminal justice reform are two sides of the same coin as policies entrenched in white supremacy to further the system of mass incarceration grounded in the triple evils of poverty, racism, and militarism. We must do something now from the grassroots to redeem the soul of this nation.
The People’s Consortium for Human and Civil Rights, Inc. campaign, Let My People Go, will train communities across the country to influence policy through advocacy, civic engagement, and direct action to redeem the soul of the nation.
