The Adirondack Foothills District has come up with a fun way for Scouting families across the Leatherstocking Council to raise money to support our mission. We hope you will join us and do some LEATHERSTOMPING for LEATHERSTOCKING!
Here's how it goes.
Anyone can click on donate to support this campaign. Click on join to either support a team or start your own. If you would like to donate and receive a t-shirt, please register.
Then, ask as many of your friends and relatives to either sponsor you or donate to your team fundraising page and go for a hike. How far and how much you want to try and raise is up to you!
If anyone prefers to send a check to the office or call in a credit card donation, as long as they tell us which team gets the credit, we'll add it to your total (Leatherstocking Council, 1401 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13501; 315-735-4437).
This campaign will take place anytime during the days of June 10, 2020 and June 30, 2020. You pick the time and day during the event days. You may also pick the route – your city blocks, a hiking trail, etc. You should be bold and strive for a distance for your hike that will challenge your will as a Scout. Then, you will get up, get out, and get going on the shoe-leather express – START WALKING! If you would like, you may coordinate with your unit leader to make this part of any hiking merit badges or awards. THIS IS FOR ALL AGES – CUBS, SCOUTS, AND LEADERS.
Register for the event, create your team or individual page, then share it with your friends and relatives.
You can tell them where and how far you are walking or hiking, and why it is so important for them to help you support Scouting in your community by making a donation to help you go the distance and be the best Scout you can be!
When the dates of the event arrive you start your walk. You may post pictures and short videos to this page and share them on the Leatherstocking Council's Facebook page. You may post before, during and after your walk!
The rules are simple – STAY SAFE. Maintain your social distancing. Have a parent, guardian, or unit leader with you. Sponsors may contribute anytime from now to the end of the event (June 14, 2020) and any pledges made will count to your total, even though they are payable monthly through December 31, 2020. Post only APPROPRIATE pictures and short videos. And, most of all, have fun!
What you will get for participating:
After the event you will receive a special certificate of commendation signed by our Scout Executive, Mr. Ray Eschenbach, and your District Executive, Mike Molinaro. In addition, if you raise $50.00 or more, you will receive a T-shirt with the event logo commemorating the event! (please be sure to include your shirt size when registering)
All participants will receive the satisfaction of serving your district and council when called to action, ensuring Scouting will be around to benefit the next generation of young leaders!
The top three fundraisers will all receive brand new TIMBERLAND BOOTS!!
