Since 2011, LearnToLive has been joining together teams of professional doctors, nurses, architects and volunteers to bring primary and emergent healthcare, health education and access to clean water to people in need around the globe each year.
The playing field for so many in the world is unequal. Millions of people begin behind the starting blocks of life because they lack access to basic healthcare, health education and clean water. It is here where LTL is attempting to level the playing field.
To stop one person from worrying and to ease the burden of finding a day's worth of clean water for one person, is success in our eyes. If we can bring awareness and education to one person on his or her continuing chronic health issue to make life easier, then we have done our duty.
This year, our team of 50 will visit nine rural communities in North Sulawesi, Indonesia to provide medical services to hundreds of people, equipping them with resources and knowledge they need to increase their individual health and well-being.
The LTL Indonesia Program will provide health services, such as acute and chronic adult and child check ups, reproductive health services, physical therapy, dental care, insurance sign up services, health education and maternal child health. This requires a lot of man power, and we are thankful to have such an incredible team that rolls with us.
Our team acquires first hand insight to the sanitation problems and lack of access to health facilities and healthcare that pervades areas of Indonesia.
Another component to our program is the LTL Water Build, in which the team will build its sixth rainwater catchment system, this year in the community of Talise, where regular access to clean water is non-existent. Bringing hundreds accessibility to clean water, we will also work alongside community leaders and school children educating on the filtration process, maintenance and management of the system.
